Currently the roles are basically hard coded within the plugin. A bad limitation at the moment...but I will begin working on a revised plugin that uses roles as defined with wordpress as well as the roles that are defined with other plugins. Your Pages by Role plugin appeared to be good for my need so I have installed it on my wordpress website but I have found a problem: your dropdown list shows only the standard roles and not the ones I have added by User Role Editor plugin.
